Bonne Bay Search and Rescue

Serving the communities in
Gros Morne National Park
Although all our team members are volunteers we strive to be unpaid professionals!

BBSAR is group of ca. 25 trained women and men committed to providing search and rescue support to people in distress. BBSAR is based in Rocky Harbour / Norris Point. It also has a branch group in St. Paul’s.

We operate under the provincial umbrella organisation Newfoundland and Labrador Search and Rescue Association NLSARA

Our team's primary role is to assist the RCMP and Parks Canada in the search for lost or missing persons.  It also transports people to safety, and provides any help and assistance to the agencies in charge and to the communities.

Members are trained in Map and Compass, GPS, Radio Operation, First Aid, Boat Safety, Avalanche Rescue, Wilderness Survival, Team Leadership, Search Management, Equipment Operation and numerous Search and Rescue techniques.

We also offer various Educational Programs, designed to promote public safety for children and adults, such as hug a tree, boating safety or Adventue Smart.

In return for a donation, our team is available to help with security or traffic control at public events such as parades or sporting events.
